eco2 powerTM

eco2 powerTM is an exciting and revolutionary intelligent power system designed to save on the electricity used at individual workstations. With average savings of £25 to £30 per desk per year (equating to a reduction of approximately 200kg of CO2 emissions), there are both financial and environmental benefits on offer.

eco2power takes the form of a socket power system, and a software operating download, that can be installed by an IT department in computers across a firm. Staff simply plug all their desk appliances (computer, lamp, chargers, fans, desktop printers etc) into the new socket, along with a USB appliance that detects whether the workstation is in use (by whether the mouse or keyboard has been used).

The computer goes into a master socket, marked in red, that always stays on. When the preset time span lapses, the system goes into inactivity mode, the computer goes on standby, while the electricity supply cuts out to other plugged-in items. As soon as the mouse or keyboard is back in use, the desk power comes back on.

The software with the system includes a graphic user interface (a small information window that can be viewed on screen) which provides a way of quantifying the CO2 and electricity savings made for every end user and that can also be measured cumulatively by a facilities manager. This helps to engage the individual user in the whole energy saving process whilst also allowing the company to track eco and economical targets.
